Last updated 2026-09-24. This notice describes how the site actually works today, not how we intend it to work later. It is information, not legal advice.

The short version: we do not sell anything about you, we run no advertising and no tracking, and we ask for as little as we can get away with.

Who we are

AXORD is a publication operated by an individual, not by a company. It is not incorporated and has no company registration. For anything relating to your data — access, correction, deletion, or a simple question — email info@axord.co, which is the contact point for this site. Where the law requires us to identify ourselves further to you, we will do so on request.

What we collect, and why

1. Analytics — Umami Cloud

We use Umami Cloud to count visits and understand which articles are useful. It records the page you viewed, the site or campaign that referred you, an approximate location worked out from your connection (city and country level), and technical details such as device type and browser. It does not receive your name, your email address, or anything you type into a form.

We also record a small number of deliberate events: clicks on outbound links to vendors and cited sources, clicks on affiliate links if any are ever live, taking the Automation Decision Sheet, and completing a newsletter signup. Each one stores what was clicked — never who clicked it.

Umami states that it does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track users across websites, and that its servers are in the US and EU. We have not independently audited those statements, and we do not repeat them as our own findings. The tracker is configured to honour your browser’s Do Not Track setting. Analytics data is retained for six months on our plan.

2. Email signup — not active

There is no signup form on this site. Email collection is switched off entirely: no form is displayed, nothing is collected, and no request is made to any third party. The Automation Decision Sheet is freely readable without giving us an address. The rest of this section describes what will happen if and when email signup is switched on, and takes effect only then.

If you sign up, we would store your email address, the fact and time of your consent, and a small amount of context about where you signed up — which free resource you asked for, which article you were reading, and the page path you submitted from. That context is used to send you the right thing and to understand which articles are useful. We do not ask for your name, your company or your phone number.

• Double opt-in. You receive nothing until you confirm via a link we send you.
• Purpose. To send the Decision Sheet and a short sequence about automation decisions.
• Legal basis. Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
• Processor. EmailOctopus, a trading name of Three Hearts Digital Ltd (86-90 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NE, company number 09897211). EmailOctopus states that contact lists are stored in Ireland, within the EEA, on Amazon Web Services, and that its own sending providers are SendGrid and SparkPost.
• Sender address in emails. Marketing email carries a postal return address supplied by our email provider, rather than a private home address.
• Leaving. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, honoured immediately.

We never buy lists, scrape addresses, or add anyone who did not ask. If you received email from us and did not sign up, tell us and we will find out why.

3. Affiliate links

One affiliate link is live: Make, on our Make tool page. We are in no other affiliate programme, and we have earned nothing so far. See how we are funded.

When you click an affiliate link, the destination or its affiliate network may set its own cookie so a later signup is attributed to us. That cookie is set by them, on their domain, under their privacy policy — not ours. We do not receive your identity from it; what we see is a count. Every affiliate link is disclosed on the page that carries it.

4. Contact requests

If you email info@axord.co, that message reaches us through Cloudflare Email Routing, which receives mail for our domain and forwards it to a Google-hosted mailbox that we read. Both providers process the message in transit and in storage under their own terms. We hold your message and your address for as long as needed to deal with it and to keep a record of the correspondence.

5. Hosting, domain and server logs

This site is hosted by Netlify. Our domain registration and DNS are operated through Cloudflare. Hosting and network providers of this kind record standard server logs, which typically include IP address, user agent and requested URL, for security and abuse prevention. These are generated by the infrastructure rather than by us, we do not use them to build a profile of you, and we have not independently verified either provider’s retention period or the regions in which those logs are held.

What we do not do

• No advertising, no retargeting, no ad networks.
• No cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.
• No selling, renting or sharing of your data.
• No cross-site tracking.
• No profiling and no automated decision-making about you.
• No collection of special category data.

How long we keep things

• Email address: nothing is collected today. If signup is switched on, until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion.
• Analytics: six months, the retention period on our plan.
• Contact emails: as long as needed for the correspondence.
• Server logs: per each provider’s own period, which we have not independently verified.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, delete or export your data, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a supervisory authority. To exercise any of them, email info@axord.co. We will not make you justify the request.

Where your data goes

Our email provider, EmailOctopus, states that contact lists are held in Ireland, within the EEA. Our host (Netlify) and our domain and mail-routing provider (Cloudflare) operate global networks, and contact email is delivered to a Google-hosted mailbox. We have not independently verified the specific regions those providers use, and we do not claim to have done so.

Changes

Material changes will be noted in our corrections and changes log rather than applied silently.
